Please Stop President Obama from touching Social Security
There are no Federal funds in Social Security. Social Security was paid for by my employer and myself and other employer's and employees. This money was to be used so that we would have something to live on when we retired or became unable to work.
Since Social Security's inception, the Federal Government has been "Borrowing" from Social Security and continues to "Borrow", but hasn't paid any of it back.
Please, I beg of you to stop the President from touching our Social Security which we are legally entitled to. It isn't fair that Congress gets Pensions from their previous jobs before they went into Government and then when they are no longer in office, they continue receiving their pensions, and also receive their Salary for the rest of their lives and it's tax free and they also receive free healthcare at taxpayer expense. So please stop the President from touching our Social Security which we worked most our lives for. It is an insurance we paid for so we are entitled to it. If the President wants to balance the bugdet, why not have Congress pay taxes on their salaries? And when they are no longer in office, stop receiving their salaries tax free for the rest of their lives. It goes against the Constitution that our Forefathers created. Yes, there have been ammendments to it, but the basic principles should still be followed. I don't get anywhere close to what I was making when I was working now that I am disabled.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Susan Rasmussen.

Why is this important?
I am disabled and worked for about 30 years starting at the age of 16 and had to pay into Social Security from that time until I was no longer able to work. And with cuts to Social Security, I can't afford the common necessities. Because I have to pay higher prices for gasoline, food, and if my income decreases, it will be even harder to survive.
I've already be affected by The Sequester and have to pay more for rent living in HUD Subsidized Housing for Seniors and Disabled Persons.
