Surviving veterans of the 1983 Beirut bombing and their families observe a binding motto: Our first duty is to remember.
Remember that Iran and its agents killed 241 American Marines, soldiers and sailors in Beirut on October 23, 1983.
Remember that survivors of that tragedy and their families have been seeking justice for three decades with support from all three branches of the U.S. Government and are close to success.
Remember this bombing was a blatant act of terrorism.
Remember not to let Iran off the hook for the 241 murders it committed 30 years ago.
Our first duty is to remember.
Why is this important?
Iranian leaders are currently seeking relief from the lawfully imposed U.S. sanctions. Hundreds of survivors, mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters of those killed or maimed in the Oct. 23, 1983 Marine Barracks bombing seek relief from their pain and suffering every day.
30 years is too long to wait for justice.
President Obama can hold Iran accountable for their actions. Remember the peacekeepers, Mr. President.
The first duty is to remember.
