Preserving our Old West End Historic District Landscape
Stop the proposed widening of Collingwood Bvd. The project, which traffic flow does not warrant, will cause the destruction of 72 curbside trees and will destroy the historic landscape and character of Collingwood, for over 100 years a grand residential street. The National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 assures that neighbors are included in discussions and planning of such a project. Neighbors were also not informed of the rights the federal law affords them.
Why is this important?
Prevent the widening of Collingwood Blvd. and the destruction of 72 curbside trees. The city of Toledo plans to go ahead with this project despite the fact that traffic does not warrant it and the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 was not complied with: No neighborhood residents were involved throughout the planning, nor were they informed of their rights, as per federal law.
