President Trump: resist nuclear confrontation

Dear President Trump,
We are confident that you and your advisors will find a wise solution to the threat of a nuclear horror which would produce devastation and pain on the world greater than what Japan experienced at the end of WW II. Even nuclear accidents -- such as those in Chernobyl in 1986 and Fukushima Daiichi in 2011 - had not only immediate but long-lasting and on-going consequences: contaminated air, water and land, as well as unexplained illnesses.
In the United States, we have lived through several major nuclear reactor failures including the Borax experiments (1952 – 1955), and the Three-Mile Island accident in 1979 which had the most significant consequences in U.S. nuclear power plant history. They all have left environmental problems and human maladies.
We have a history of treaties that have kept harmony among nations. Strengthen this commitment to solving disagreements without armed conflict of any kind. The future is in making the world a safe place for everyone. Our children and grandchildren will be grateful for your wisdom and remember you for this.

Why is this important?

This petition comes from the SE MN Alliance of Peacemakers to persuade President Trump to lower the threat of a nuclear confrontation. He has the power to reset the dialog with world leaders, especially Kim Jong-un.
