Protect Food Processing Workers

It is a huge oversight and lack of preparedness to ignore the risk of COVID-19 infection in food harvesting, transport, and processing workers. These people are often without healthcare insurance and are often low-wage earners who cannot afford to stay home from work.

I am urging you to start a nationwide effort to provide healthcare, PPE, and sick leave to these critical workers. Instead of deporting and stopping immigrants who harvest and process food, you should open the doors and allow them to work in a protected environment.

Shame on you for your shortsightedness in this important situation.
