Protect Our Food Stamp Program

Funding for our country's Food Stamp Program is at risk of being cut by a record $17.4 billion. The goal of our Food Stamp Program has always been to reduce hunger, but by increasing job requirements, restricting what needy families can buy, and eliminating food stamps for our most vulnerable neighbors, hunger in our communities will only increase.

Why is this important?

Promise the Children supports the development of healthy children and families. Our nation's Food Stamp Program is an anti-hunger program whose only purpose is to help our most vulnerable neighbors eat. Restricting food stamps will only lead to more hunger and homelessness and these proposed cuts should be stopped.

Reasons for signing

  • I support the Green New Deal's call for universal access to healthy food, but we don't need to reinvent the wheel. We just need to expand and improve SNAP and school meals.
  • I am 55 disabled woman on Social Security and Medicaid and Snap program these programs should be expanded and protect by law where no can cut them
  • We are commanded by Jesus to take care of the poor and needy. Government needs to have a role in this - the private sector cannot take care of all the hungry.
