Trump is doing now exactly what Hitler did in the 1930s when Hitler labeled the German press "Lugenpresse" or "Lying press". Trump's actions to ban the mainstream press from his news conferences is a clear violation of the First Amendment that guarantees us free speech. Why is this important?
No democracy can exist without an informed electorate. Without a truly free and independent press, and without thorough investigative journalism, there can be no informed electorate and therefore no democracy. Freedom of speech and of the press is key to our own survival as a democracy and therefore we must do ALL we can to maintain our free press.
