Protect Our Natural Resources, Parks, and Monuments
We have to protect sites such as Bears Ears and Escalante from destruction by corporate kleptocrats. These are important fossil sites, religious ritual sites, and important lands for future generations. Act now. Don’t tread on science. Don’t tread on Native American religious freedom. Leave our federal lands alone.
Why is this important?
Our parks and monuments are important geological sites, producing amazing fossils that rewrote what we know about history, such as the Triassic-era Phytosaur fossils of the Bears Ears national monument and the Dinosaur fossils and very rare Mammal fossils of the Escalante national monument. Greedy corporatists want to destroy these lands and fill their pockets, while paying off kleptocrat politicians such as the GOP. This move is anti-science, and anyone with half a brain could see the geological importance of these lands. These federal lands are also important, because they produce archeological artifacts. One notable example is Bears Ears, which contains artifacts dating back to around 11,000 years ago. These artifacts are significant because they could give us clues into how the first Native Americans in North America lived as they traveled the continent.
These lands are also sacred to the Native Americans, with rituals being important to their ancestors and the various local tribes of each national monument/park. Destroying these lands to benefit some corporate kleptocrat is infringing upon the religious freedom of Native Americans. How would Christian’s feel if people did the same to Jerusalem?
These lands are also beautiful, and are worth preserving for future generations. They bring lots of tourists, who bring lots of money to local businesses. This benefits local economies. Therefore, it is not economically sustainable and extremely shortsited to destroy these lands.
