Social Security is not a government handout. Each person pays into the program during their working life and then receives their insurance payment back when they reach their retirement years.
Why is this important?
Having worked for the last 54 years, I am now living on social security and it is not enough. Even with my 401K, it is not enough. We need regular increases in the amount paid.
