Raleigh UDO! Urban Ag throughout the City!

I am a Raleigh resident, and I support Community Gardens and Urban Farms as a principle use in my residential neighborhood.

By signing my name on this petition, I ask you, the Raleigh City Council, to:

1. Allow Community Gardens as a Limited Use in zone R-10, and in as many additional Residential zones as possible, in order to avoid the costs and lengthy permitting process of a Special Use Permit. (the current draft allows them only with a Special Use Permit in most Residential zones)
2. Allow Urban Farms in all Residential Zones in Raleigh with a Special Use Permit, so that individual farms can be reviewed on a site by site basis with public input. (in the current draft they are Prohibited in Residential zones)

Why is this important?

Ask the Raleigh City Council to take this progressive step to expand urban agriculture in the new Unified Development Ordinance (UDO). The Planning Department has made important progress on urban agriculture, but to create lasting change we need the above enabling legislation within the UDO.

Urban agriculture builds soil, builds innovation, and builds our economy. Urban agriculture feeds people, improves public health, and strengthens our communities. Let the City Council know that you support farms and gardens throughout Raleigh, for Raleigh!
