Why is this important?

Founded in 2017, The New Parkchester Democratic Club was established to involve residents of the Parkchester community in the political process, and to effect meaningful change throughout the district. We continually advocate for solutions to issues of interest to our members and Parkchester residents.
The Circle Theater opened in around 1941 for David Weinstock & Kay Theaters Corp.
The landmark Seating was provided on a stadium plan, with a stepped raised section at the rear. Later it was operated by Brandt Theater chain. The Circle Theater was twinned in 1983 to Mayfair Theater in Queens, which is currently a venue for Bollywood films. It was closed in 1985 and became Lucille Roberts fitness center (http://cinematreasures.org/theaters/7124) .
By 2018 the location became a church and now it is currently vacant. For the last 74 years the American theater has been entertaining the Parkchester Community and surrounding area providing us with Box Office movies and family social gatherings for decades. The Whitestone movie theater was shut down creating an opportunity for no shopping and entertainment in the area for families and children. There has been an overwhelming outcry of public disapproval of the closing of the American Bow Tie Theater and the closed former National Action Network Bronx Chapter in Parkchester had taken on the campaign to Re-Open the American Bow Tie Theater or keep it a Movie Theater organized by the Crisis Management Team. The campaign which recieved over 3,000 signatures closed and Marshall's opened up in its place leaving no remaining entertainment location in Parkchester.
The New Parkchester Democratic Club has now taken the baton to continue with several of the advocates from the last campaign to Re-Open and save The Circle Theater at Hugh Grant Circle. A landmark Movie Theater for the residents of Parkchester which consisted of 2 screens and 599 seats.
