Re-Write the Pledge of Allegiance
We the People have the power to write a more meaningful pledge of allegiance that fits this time in our history!
We the People have the power to write an oath that is more inclusive and more reflective of all citizens of our country.
The new pledge of allegiance:
We The People, citizens of the United States of America, affirm our obligation to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, to bear true allegiance to our flag, to defend it against all enemies foreign and domestic, and to uphold the Constitutional rights of liberty and justice for all citizens."
Why is this important?
The current pledge has long been considered a sacred statement affirming one's support for the flag and country. The current pledge has been historically shaped to make political statements and to make a religious point in the 50’s against communism. There exists today a great disconnect between this pledge and the actual workings of our democracy.
The hypocrisy of the current governmental practices do not align with the constitution or the words in the pledge " One Nation Under God, with Liberty and Justice for all.”
