Did you know RI does not have a glass recycling plant? It wasn't until early 2013 that glass picked up curbside was brought to a Massachusetts facility to be recycled. Before that, it was ground down and layered on top of landfill trash. Create jobs in Rhode Island by recycling glass here!
Why is this important?
Glass can be recycled with little environmental effects. The weight of glass makes carrying it to outside facilities cost-prohibitive. A state recycling plant would increase recycling and create jobs in-state. The largest buyer of glass bottles are breweries and Narragansett Brewery bottles out of state too.
