Reject International War Criminals on American Campuses

"An Israeli soldier holds down 11-year-old Palestinian boy Mohammed Tamimi in the West Bank village of Nabi Saleh" (Vox, 2015)
Foreign militaries responsible for well-documented crimes against humanity should not be allowed on college campuses.

Why is this important?

The presence of IDF soldiers on Hofstra’s campus and campuses across the country during the ongoing violence across the Levant and West Asia, especially with the current bombing campaign by the IDF on Palestinian, Iranian and Lebanese civilian infrastructure, which violates international law and our values as university students. For many members of the university community, particularly those who have fled war or instability, this event can foster feelings of unsafety, dismissal, and re-traumatize individuals.

This issue does not only impact Palestinian students. It affects every student on this campus who cares about human rights. This goes beyond freedom of speech and directly impacts the sense of safety and inclusion within our community.

Hofstra and American institutions of higher education should prioritize a respectful and supportive environment for all students. Hosting representatives tied to this genocide at this moment undermines that responsibility, and students urge their administrations to reconsider this decision.
