Release Children Held in Detention
I want them to immediately release any children 18 and younger from detention facilities across the United States and allow them to shelter in place with relatives or foster families.
Families should be able to claim children without fear that ICE will check their current immigration status.

Why is this important?
The way we have treated families and especially unaccompanied minors seeking refuge in the United States is unconscionable.
I worry that these children will be forgotten as other priorities and the self-interest of Americans who are worried about themselves and their families takes precedence.
These children are among the most vulnerable people in our society. They deserve the same opportunity to shelter in place with family members or families who will take them.
Shut the detention centers down and release all children help within them. That's what I want to see.
