Removal of the Snake River Dam

Orca whales are starving in the pacific northwest. They are not getting enough of their main food source, salmon, because of the Snake River Dams. Congress should support the dams removal or relocation of the Snake River Dams.

Why is this important?

I have watched orca pods in the pacific northwest since I was a toddler. I have seen them bring joy to anyone and everyone who gets a glimpse of the orca pods in the Pacific Northwest. They are magnificent creatures who help keep our oceans healthy. Orcas are apex predators. As a result of their looming extinction, the ocean's ecosystem would become extremely unbalanced. Without the orca as a predator the ocean could become overrun with prey animals. This could cause an unhealthy ecosystem for all marine life. There are also alternatives for renewable energy other than the dams in place at Snake River. There are options of solar power and wind power to create the renewable energy needed in the area. An issue of money has been portrayed by many congressman. However, tourism surrounding orca whales does bring in money. Unfortunately, as less and less orcas come back to pacific northwest because of lack of salmon, the state is losing money from tourism.
Tourists from all over the world come to see orcas in the wild. If the orcas fail to return as a result of the Snake River dams then the state would lose an influx of money from tourism.
Overall, these are sentient creatures who feel pain and suffering. It is inhumane to ignore their cry for help. We owe it to our planet to try to save the creatures in it. This is their home just as much as it is ours.
