Remove Drew Nelson as Salida City Administrator

Andrew Nelson was arrested in January 2018 for felony menacing, domestic violence, reckless endangerment, and prohibited use of a weapon.

He ultimately pleaded guilty to two counts of prohibited use of a weapon as part of a plea agreement.

The Salida City Council chose to hire Mr. Nelson as City Administrator with this history. The citizens of Salida are opposed to this decision to hire someone who shot a firearm in a residential area while under the influence of alcohol, and who has a history of violence against women.

Many Salida citizens came to the October 16, 2018 City Council Meeting to voice their concerns.

Based on the statements and facts presented at the City Council Meeting on October 16, 2018, as a concerned citizen of Salida, I ask you to remove Drew Nelson as city administrator.

Why is this important?

People who have a history of violence against women should not be given the privilege of holding a position of power or a leading position in public service. Someone who made the choice to become intoxicated and fire a gun in a residential area should not be considered for a role in public service. The Salida City Council made a critical mistake in hiring someone with this history.
