Remove the Edgemont Exemption
Just sent out the following letter to Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Amy Paulin.
Their excuse for exempting the Edgemont Incorporation Committee (EIC) from the new law was that the EIC had a pending petition they were working on. Really? What is their excuse now? Read the letter below:
Dear Andrea and Amy:
Your excuse for exempting the EIC from the new law has just gone up in smoke. You claimed that you were doing it because their petition was "in process". Of course, that does not explain why the chapter amendment exempts the EIC (and the EIC only) until 2040. Nor does it explain why SIlver Springs that had actually file a petition with the Town and was truly "in process" was not exempt.
For the record, just began collecting names for the List of Regular Inhabitants (LORI) which is required to be attached to the petition. A postcard asking for confirmation of those in the household went out to some (not sure all) Edgemont residents this past week. It also was soliciting signatures. This means they are just now beginning the process not in the middle of it. It appears they were waiting until you passed this draconian chapter amendment before proceeding.
Given this new development, I urge you to pass a revised Chapter Amendment immediately and make this new petition subject to the same laws as the rest of NY State.
Best Regards,
Hugh

Why is this important?
People need the benefit of an independent study to determine the impact of incorporating the wealthiest part of Greenburgh. It affects 50,000 people, the majority of whom do not have a say in the matter.
