Remove the roundabouts in the Winchell Neighborhood
The roundabouts fail to conform to the Kalamazoo Street Typology as outlined in Imagine Kalamazoo 2025.
“Pedestrians are the most vulnerable users within a roadway and their safety and comfort must be provided for on all streets.”
(2.2, p 29 & 38). Street design includes “Ensuring that all users of the street and adjacent properties are comprehensively
considered in street design and management functions.” (2.1, p 24)

Why is this important?
Safety of ALL users should be considered in the design of neighborhood streets. The roundabouts at Chevy Chase Blvd. & Waite Ave. and Chevy Chase Blvd. & Lorraine Ave are designed for dominant use by automobiles and are dangerous for pedestrians."
