In 1923 The Pledge of Allegiance written for the US did not have the words “under God” in it.
In 1954, in response to the Communist threat of the times, Congress added the words "under God," creating the pledge we say today.
Why is this important?
The first Amendment of the Constitution states that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion. In addition, we no longer have Communist fears. Therefore in my option the 1954 change to The Pledge of Allegiance was unconstitutional and we need to reinstate the 1923 Pledge of Allegiance.
