Rep. DeLauro: Pledge to Vote Against Social Security Cuts

Pledge to vote against any proposal to cut Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, or veterans' benefits, including the Administration's proposal to switch to the chained CPI for calculating cost of living adjustments, by signing the Grayson-Takano letter.

Why is this important?

Reps. Alan Grayson and Mark Takano have been asking members of Congress to pledge to vote against any proposal to cancel the sequester that involves cutting Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid benefits. Over 40 members have signed the letter or made their own pledges. Rep. DeLauro says that she opposes President Obama's proposal to switch to the chained CPI to calculate cost of living adjustments to Social Security benefits—which would effectively cut benefits—but she has yet to pledge to vote against it. We think she ought to join the club.
