With over 150,000 federal employees in Texas unable to work, and thousands more affected by the government shutdown, it's time to end partisan politics and vote to increase the debt ceiling. The job of Congress is to make government work better for the people—not to stop it from working. Enough already.
Why is this important?
The government shutdown has been going on for a week already. Over 150,000 Texans have been put out of work. Small businesses loans are being delayed, social security checks for new seniors and veterans benefits are being delayed, and again, it's not the fault of seniors or those who have risked their lives for our country that brought us to this tragic outcome.
For Texas, and for America, it's time congress votes for a clean continuing resolution and it's time we end the government shutdown.
