Require Roof Fire Sprinklers in all new home construction

With the devastating fires going on in Northern California right now, it made me realize how simple a roof sprinkler on each home would have to have helped diminish the damage. Many countries, like Australia, use simple roos sprinkler systems to help soak roofs, and surrounding property, with water. Since most homes burn due to flying embers, this would greatly decrease the odds of a fire even being able to start on these protected homes. If an entire block, neighborhood, city had these, then who knows what could be accomplished. The cost of such a system, ranging from $2000-$5000 is minor compared with having to rebuild an entire home. I hope this simple proposal can get some traction and change history.

Why is this important?

I am a native Californian, and many of my friends have homes in Napa, Sonoma, and Santa Rosa. Many have lost everything, and though I can't help stop what has happened, I can try and help us all make smarter decisions in the future about fire abatement.
