Require the Labelling of Genetically Modified Foods

Since the only studies of the effects of GMO foods on human health have been conducted by the companies producing these products, the veracity of these studies is thought by some to be suspect. Allowing market forces to determine the acceptance of these products is a proper and effective means of determining the demand on the part of the public. The only real way the public can make this choice is through proper labeling.

This simple, straightforward and inexpensive solution to the GMO controversy harms no one and allows market forces to determine their success or failure. Its the right thing to do.

Why is this important?

Due to the complete lack of long term studies and the lack of third party studies determining the safety of these products, the people of Utah should have the choice of whether or not they eat these foods. Labeling these products will not alter their costs or the costs of the alternatives and we the people should be able to choose between them.
