Raise the tax on gas before the oil companies raise the cost of fuel to bolster their profits. This will help suppress consumption, keep the price of the barrel low to economically challenge the worst political regimes on the globe and may lead to a shift in mega-manufacturing operations in depressed exploited communities to a dispersion of small manufacturing operations scattered throughout the country closer to points of destination to avoid shipping expense--let alone encouraging a responsible use of resources and lessened pollution. These revenues should be used to repair and rebuild US infrastructure including a prioritization for improving the nations passenger rail system.

We are all affected by this issue. Lets take advantage of the opening of domestic reserves by president Bush which are already suppressing the price per barrel of oil.
