Lavallette has enjoyed mail delivery since 1881 and full-time, year-round post office services since 1908. After Hurricane Sandy, the United States Postal Service implemented a reduction of services that was not planned before the hurricane. As a result, we lost our Lavallette facility and must share with the Brick Post Office, challenging our carriers to bring our mail from Brick every day.
Why is this important?
This has had a negative effect on Lavallette community members who cannot walk or bike to the Ocean Beach facility. It is a serious safety concern for Ocean Beach residents. Also, it is inconvenient for mail carriers, who face hardships and delays in delivering to Brick.
