Restricting Bloomingdale Access for EP residents is a Horrible Idea

We, the residents of Elmwood Park, who pay taxes, obey the speed limits, and are proud residents of this village, should not be restricted from using one of the main PUBLIC roadways that takes us to our residences. We understand that the safety of our residents is the most important. However, the residents are not the ones who are speeding and putting all of us in danger. Any restrictions on turning and using this roadway should not affect the residents who use it daily. Restrict access to non residents, but do not make residents suffer.

Why is this important?

The residents who live near Thatcher and Bloomingdale will be the ones most unfairly affected by these restrictions. We are the ones who use this route the most. We are the ones who obey the speed limit. We are the ones who know that you can't go fast on Thatcher Ave. because of the deer which can jump out on the roadway at any time. We feel that what the village is trying to implement is ridiculous and unfair. These restrictions will only create more traffic, accidents, and problems on North Avenue. Moreover, we all know that there is more traffic on Thatcher and Bloomingdale due to Thatcher being closed at North Ave. This is logical. Once the roadway is reopened, people who cut through our village, will no longer have the need to do so. However, if we test this now, these restrictions will remain in place forever, inconveniencing our lives. Why not enforce the speed limit on Thatcher if that is the problem, and not restrict resident access instead.
