Return the Stanton Parkhouse to community use!
We request that NYC Parks Department return the Stanton Street park building in Sara D. Roosevelt Park to community use. The boarded up building has become a hub for drug dealing and violence. Opening and activating the building with programming is critical for establishing a safe, engaging park for the community.
Why is this important?
I am a member of the Stanton Building Task Force and have heard first hand from residents how distressed they are by recent violence in this area of the park, how dismayed they feel by years of lack of response to their concerns from NYC Parks. Last summer's murder in the park was devastating. It's time to transform the situation by opening up the building for public programming and moving Park storage elsewhere.
