Safe Crossings For All

It would be beneficial for everyone to not have the raised curbs when it comes to transportation. Raised curbs are harmful and difficult for people with mobility issues and disabilities. When you press the button for the crosswalk, having a verbal cue is helpful so that people know when to cross. A median is also good for people who are crossing streets. It helps them have a place to stop. Everyone should be free to cross streets or do whatever they want without danger or fear. The city should continue to build curb cuts and add audio features to walk/don't walk machines at cross walks.
This is more than a convenience for persons with mobility issues; it is a safety issue for them as pedestrians and for drivers of vehicles as well.

Why is this important?

It would be beneficial for everyone to not have the raised curbs when it comes to transportation. Raised curbs are more than an inconvenience for persons with mobility issues; it is a safety issue for them as pedestrians and for drivers of vehicles as well. I care about this issue because my Mom’s partner is blind and every day is terribly hard for him to move around and trust others. My grandma has a walker, and she finds that it is difficult for her to lift the walker over the raised curb to get to the sidewalk too.
