"New Beginning Animal Rescue" (NBAR), a no-kill shelter, will be forced to close it's doors due to lack of funding. This shelter has been scraping by with small donations and volunteers from the Bronx Community since 2010 without any city funding. However due to higher rent and veterinary costs, NBAR is literally on it's last leg. The sad realitiy is that most of their resident cats and dogs will be end up in Animal Care and Control and will killed them if this shelter closed.
NBAR has opened its doors to school groups and youths at risk. These children and shelter animals comfort and learn from each other.
