Save our Water
Our largest water reservoir in the system 160 million gallons sits unusable, the holding tank and wells, remain noncompliant with both DEC and DOH, and have since approximately 2017. A multi-million-dollar investment of an Ultra-violet disinfection system sits idle. The continual odors range over chlorination to severe algae and often moldy/musty with frequent water colors that range from urine yellow to black. As our local officials fail to reach out to sources for help. WE THE PEOPLE, the hard-working taxpayers, turn to our Federal Officials, to assist us and demand immediate action be taken to provide healthy and safe drinking water for all within the Village of Ilion, Herkimer County.
Why is this important?
Safe drinking water is a necessity of a healthy life, without which the ripple effect can carry on for generations if it continues to be ignored. The financial damage should not be ignored. Studies have shown, that the environment in which citizens live, greatly affects salary, insurance premiums, employment, education, all on a personal level, but it affects the insurance premiums for the Village as a whole.
