Save Pleasanton roads from narrowing and let us drive freely and safely
City of Pleasanton is looking to reduce one lane each on Los Positos Blvd right from Fairlands Dr up to Hopyard. This is to put permanent fat bike lanes.
Let's look at data
• Based on current weather, we cannot bike for 6 to 7 months due to rain and cold
• Number of bikers are way less to justify permanent giving away of road lanes, with the project cost subsidized by rest of city's taxpayers
• There are already bike lanes on Los Positos. Bikers also use pavements to bike, as they are safe.
• We cannot rob Peter to pay Paul, but city is doing that by taking away car lanes. This will cause more traffic congestion for office commuters
• The Pleasanton Meadows will be severely affected as the 2 lanes going straight on Los Positos to cross Santa Rita will be made one (front of fire station). There is already heavy traffic bottleneck today in mornings due to parents dropping kids to Fairlands school and people going to work.
• We have Valley Care hospital, which also needs clear access on Los Positos and we can't afford narrowing of road in front of it
So Pleasanton residents who want to continue to drive safely and freely, please sign this petition to save our main Pleasanton roads from permanent narrowing.
There is a City meeting on Thu, Sep 19 at 6 pm to 8 pm at 3333 Busch Road, Pleasanton, CA, 94566 on this. Please try to attend, those who can, and voice your concern.
