SAVE SOCIAL SECURITY
Reduce the amount of taxes collected for Social Security by a total of three percent (One and One-Half percent from the Employer and an equal amount from the employee); calculate the amount lost because of this reduction and increase the Cap to a sum to cover this loss plus slightly more. This will benefit employers who could either cut their costs or hire more employees because it would be cheaper; and it would help the economy by putting more money into the pockets of people who will spend their income.
Why is this important?
While Social Security is not currently in trouble, in several years it could become so. I believe it is necessary to make some changes that will secure the system for many years to come. I have seen suggestions that merely raise the Cap which would be a good solution, but I think we can make it even better by lowering the overall rate AND raising the cap thereby increasing the solvency of the program for a much longer time as well as increasing a benefit to the economy.
