Save the Chickens!

Spencer County has an ordinance that states residents are only able to have one chicken per acre of owned land. This is currently being enforced by planning and zoning. Residents are receiving letters and being told they have 14 days to get rid of their chickens. This ordinance is unfair to homeowners who purchased property in this rural community and chose land outside of an HOA.

Why is this important?

Many people in our community have chickens to feed their families. We all know the uncertainty of the world. Knowing they at least have eggs to feed their children regardless of what happens in stores around them being peace of mind.

Many families who have chickens also have children who care for them, look at them as pets and will be heartbroken when they have to get rid of them because of an ordinance that needs changed.
