With the pending cuts to discretionary funding, the federal TRiO Programs (born out of the civil rights movement of the 1960s) is extremely vulnerable. Thousands of low income students of all ages, veterans, and citizens across the country stand to lose these vital academic support services, and already over 40,000 Americans have lost these services.
