Not only is Frank's Ford Bridge a National Register-listed bridge in a historic location, it is a unique fixture of our neighborhood and community. It deserves to be preserved for current and future generations, in the place it was built and continues to be used by many.
Built in 1895, Frank's Ford Bridge was added to the National Register in 1980.

There is an open house at Cascade Township Hall (2025 75th St NE, Rochester, MN 55906) on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 5:00PM. Please consider attending and documenting your concerns in writing.

Just an update for anyone who is interested. The open house was well attended. People voiced their concerns about the County of Olmsted's proposed project to relocate the bridge. Some of the common voiced concerns are listed below.
1. Neighbors and other potential stakeholders, should have been involved or notified of the proposed project from the beginning. This project has been seriously considered since 2024. Most of the neighbors were notified about 2 weeks ago.
2. Lack of maintenance and neglect from the County of Olmsted has led to deterioration and and a safety issue. This is the oldest bridge in Olmsted County. It is also a nationally registered historic place.
3. People in the area still use the bridge for its intended purpose. It is used daily by neighbors and other outdoor enthusiasts. Relocation would change this and would negatively affect the area.
4. The County of Olmsted should seriously consider rehabilitation of the historic bridge over relocation.
A group has formed advocating for the bridge to be rehabilitated in its current location in what they believe is the best plan for preservation. We will continue to deliver this petition to the decision makers.
