Save the Illinois Home Services Program
Governor Quinn,
The home services program administered by the Illinois Dept. of Human Services is of vital importance for tens of thousands of people with disabilities in Illinois. As you know, HSP empowers those enrolled to hire any person of their choosing to assist them in their homes at no cost to the individual. This is a beautiful thing. Without the HSP, those it serves would not be able to afford the help they need and likely would have no option but to go to a nursing facility. Taxpayers would still pay the bill. This makes no sense.
The HSP is important to me because it is the key to freedom for so many people with disabilities. It also creates jobs. It is a wise use of my tax dollars.
I expect your upcoming FY-14 budget to fund HSP at a level that will also for its continued growth and vibrancy, with no cutbacks of any klnd

Why is this important?
I don't want to be forced into a nursing home!
The Illinois Home Services Program enables me and thousands of other disabled people to live in our homes and communities. Please help keep it from falling prey to budget cuts.
