Say NO to the Blackwell Dog Run Plan

We don’t want a dog run directly Abutting another children’s playground at Blackwell Park. Children actively playing and dogs don’t always mix well. Our children deserve to play in freedom and without fear. They need an ample place to play as well, and there are better sites for the dog run.

Why is this important?

A plan for a dog run next to the playground at the north end of Blackwell park is being pushed through without feedback from the community. Many parents are concerned that children actively playing around dogs poses a serious safety hazard. Furthermore, many children have dog phobias and their emotional, as well as physical safety, should count for something.

Reasons for signing

  • Not only is this dangerous for children, it is also bad for dogs as toys could be thrown into the dog park and children can be overwhelming for sensitive dogs. And we don't wan't to get rid of any trees! If the park could go a little further like the field right behind the Blackwell house, it wouldn't clash with the playground.
  • Against building 9, against dog run reloc, give RI back to residents!
  • Blackwell playground is part of the original R. I. master plan. It was designed for children not dogs. To put a dog run there is a violation of the master plan. In addition , a dog run would negatively impact the quality of life of both tenants in adjacent buildings and playground users with noise pollution, odors , and hygiene being a serious concern.
