Say NO to the Third Term Project!
Tennessee Representative Andy Ogles is pushing a bill called “the Third Term Project” to extend term limits of the office of President! It was introduced at this year’s C-PAC Convention, Feb 19 - 22, 2025. We need to Kill this Bill before it even gets off the Ground!!!!
Why is this important?
Term Limits are one of the major safeguards of our Democracy. It was first set in motion when George Washington decided not to run a third term because “The President should not be King.” There has only been one President who has served more than 2 terms. That was FDR. He served 3 and a half terms ending during WWII. The 2 term limit was made into law in the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution after World War 2.
The Lobbyists at this year's C-PAC say that they want to amend the Constitution for 2 consecutive terms, which would make a third or even forth term feasible.
Even if you like Trump, this is a BAD Idea! F.D.R. was a great President but even then they were looking at how the powers of the presidency can be abused because of the current events at the time (A.K.A. Hitler). Even today you see examples. Putin pushed their legislation to do the same thing! He is on his 3rd term! And We all know What Putin has Done with his extended Presidency! Russia also changed their terms to 6 years! What damage can a tyrant President do in 12 or 18 years!? Canada doesn't have Term Limits either. They have been lucky so far but they are at risk of getting a tyrant Prime Minister as well. We can NOT let this Bill PASS!!!!
