Say NO to X/Twitter and Support Alternative Social Media Platforms Instead!

A recent wave of high-profile exits from X (formerly Twitter) underscores a growing crisis on the platform—one that’s driven by Elon Musk’s reckless overhaul of the site.

Activists, celebrities, journalists, and everyday users alike are abandoning X, and many of them are leaving to build communities on more thoughtful platforms like Bluesky, Mastodon, and Substack.

Users are moving on from X in a rejection of its new toxic environment, where harassment runs rampant, misinformation goes dangerously unchecked, and harmful political extremism is openly encouraged.

Why is this important?

59% of X users get their news from the platform, even though experts agree that X is a breeding ground for misinformation and far-right conspiracy theories—including during the recent presidential election, when content like fake videos about destroyed ballot boxes spread at an uncontrollable pace.

This unchecked spread of disinformation has real-world consequences: It fuels political instability, incites violence, and damages public trust in vital institutions we need for reliable information—from the media to the government.

It’s time to get serious about alternative social media platforms that don’t encourage hateful, dangerous rhetoric. MoveOn is taking a stand and stopping our daily X posts as we focus our energy on building our platform on Bluesky. Will you sign the petition to join us?
