School Zone Signs

My name is Toi M. Gray a concerned resident for the safety of the students that attend Providence of Englewood and surrounding residents. In 2016 a tragic incident took place at the corner of Ashland Avenue and 65th street involving the loss of a precious student of Providence of Englewood and the injury of the students mother. This tragedy could have been prevented and is my great desire to see that no parent ever has to face this again.

Why is this important?

I believe that you are in agreement and will stand with me in ensuring that with a safer designed school zone our Providence of Englewood scholars as well as surrounding residents will be able to safely cross this intersection by the proper placement of digital 15 mph signs. In the 2016-2017 school year several pedestrians have had instances where they came very close to being struck by speeding vehicles; including myself.

These Radar signs will visually alert drivers of current speed of their vehicle and to not exceed a speed limit of 15 mph during school hours.

I hope you agree that our children deserve the right to safely cross the street just as at other school zones. Let us move forward in addressing this traffic control issue together for a safer school zone for our children.
