Given that the Koch brothers' positions on so many issues have been contrary to the needs of the African American community-stand your ground to voter restriction to promoting segregation in schools-they should not be allowed to be on the United Negro College Fund's board of directors. If that means that they will not give their $25 million donation, then so be it. Until they demonstrate in practice that they support our concerns they should not be given positions of influence. And I encourage all of good will and African Americans to financially support the HBCU of your choice. These colleges and universities are vital to our community and we must step up and give our support.

Democrats must re-frame the discussion about taxes. Taxes are how we pay for a just society. A progressive tax system requires us to pay taxes in proportion to how much wealth each of us, with the help of our infrastructure, rule of law and our capitalist economy, creates. Very low tax rates may or may not help the economy grow, but they certainly create greater class divisions with 25 to 30 percent of the wealth being owned by the top 1 percent of Americans. That is not good for our democracy and creating wealth is not the main goal of being an American.

Since taking office, Donald Trump and Elon Musk have proposed devastating cuts to the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA). Their latest budget slashes billions from the agency that provides health care, housing assistance, and critical benefits to millions of veterans and their families.  And Veterans Affairs Secretary Doug Collins is backing the administration’s plan to eliminate more than 80,000 jobs. With veterans making up more than 25% of the VA’s workforce, these cuts will leave veterans high and dry. The anti-science education provision in the House education bill (HB 4014) is ideological and political interference in education at its worst. If passed into law, West Virginia students will not only be denied instruction about climate change, they will be denied access to the up-to-date standards covering all science subjects. Please stand up for the best interests of West Virginia students and remove the block on new K-12 science standards.

Advertisements would be limited to age-appropriate toys, G-Rated Movies and videos, and Youth-Rated Video Games. Any advertisement would also need to be watched and approved by YouTube staff.

Solitary Confinement is a violation of Human Rights, It violates articles Article 5: No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment Article 12: No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honor and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks. Solitary confinement needs to be eliminated in the state of Missouri.
