  • Congressional relegislation
Congressional Reform Act of 2012 1. No Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they're out of office. 2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose. 3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do. 4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%. 5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people. 6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people. 7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void effective 12/1/12. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen/women. Congress made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work. If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S. ) to receive the message. Don't you think it's time?

  • Maine (Doesn't) Care
This petition is, basically, to try and stop/overturn a law that Maine's Governor (writing that makes me ashamed) Paul LePage (and writing THAT makes me wanna take a shower!) has rammed thru the legislature. I'm a long term Chronic Pain Patient. I'm also... Or at least I used to be, a United States Marine (Hoo Ra!), a retired cop and an ill First Resonder (9/11). What LePage has done is this: for ANYONE with chronic pain, and who has been prescribed narcotic pain medicine for a year or less; beginning 04/01/12, they will get a single 45 day supply. If you've been prescribed these meds for longer than a year, starting 09/01/12 you will get a single, 45 day supply. After that, you and your PCP, Pain Management doctor, etc., will "...have to come up with an alternative to opiod medications." This is madness! What semblance of life I now have will be gone and, trust me when I say, that won't be "living", it won't be possible to get out of bed. So, please, sign this petition; if not for me, then for someone you know who needs to continue with the little joy that being able to function (even a small amount is good) that will be taken away by LePage. Thank You! Bob Bailey Now I have to go shower...

  • It's past time for gun control
No more excuses. President Obama has spoken clearly and powerfully about the crucial need for improved gun control in this country. It's time to take action to prevent more tragic mass shootings and innocent lives lost.

  • Gov. Wolf: Don't take renewable energy funds to build more pipelines!
I demand you stop your newly announced Pipeline Investment Program. In addition to putting in more dangerous pipelines across our state, the program takes $24 million in taxpayer money from a fund designated for renewable energy. Fracked gas pipelines are inherently dangerous. Pipeline explosions and ruptures are already plaguing Pennsylvania communities, causing serious damage and harm. Taxpayer money should be spent to benefit the public good - and this program uses it to only benefit the fracking industry. The Pipeline Investment Program purports to help schools and hospitals by connecting them with fracked gas energy, but new fracked gas pipelines would only put these institutions and our communities at even greater risk. Many of these institutions are already hurting from the negative impacts of dirty fossil fuels. This program is bad for our communities, bad for Pennsylvania's future, and is simply unacceptable.

  • Veterans Monument Location
To the Ken-Caryl Metropolitan District: We, the neighbors residing in Ken-Caryl Ranch, call on the Metropolitan District Board to amend the approval to locate the Veterans Monument on the Southeast corner of Crestone Mountain and Sangre de Cristo Road and instead approve the site at the Ranch House. We support the Veterans Monument located at the Ranch House, as it is an ideal site for this monument to enable access and an opportunity to reflect without imposing on surrounding residents. The Ranch House also provides an added layer of security for the monument. We do not support the Southeast corner of Crestone Mountain and Sangre de Cristo Road as the location of the Veterans Monument for the following reasons: That site requires 24-hour lighting and regular maintenance, adds to traffic congestion, will obstruct the residents’ views of the foothills, and develops an open and popular space. None of these issues are a factor at the Ranch House site.

  • ELECTED GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE INCOME PAY RATE
EVERY UNITED STATES ELECTED OFFICIAL SHALL BE ON AN INCOME PAY RATE THAT MATCHES THE FEDERAL MINIMUM WAGE ACT The federal minimum wage for covered nonexempt employees is $7.25 per hour effective July 24, 2009. The federal minimum wage provisions are contained in the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Many states also have minimum wage laws. In cases where an employee is subject to both the state and federal minimum wage laws, the employee is entitled to the higher of the two minimum wages. The FLSA does not provide wage payment or collection procedures for an employee's usual or promised wages or commissions in excess of those required by the FLSA. However, some states do have laws under which such claims (sometimes including fringe benefits) may be filed. The Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division administers and enforces the federal minimum wage law.

  • Right to Life for the most profoundly disabled
Governor McDonnell and the DOJ have reached an agreement under the false premise that it will bring improvement in health care for the most profoundly intellectual and physically disabled. The DOJ demanded more community placement but did not demand complete closure of all 5 institutional facilities, one of which provides 5-star skilled nursing care and 24-hour on-site physician care to sustain life for those most profoundly disabled. The Governor is privatizing all of it, but canceling the skilled care portion with no alternative that's remotely equal in the community. If this settlement is approved as written, it will pose a threat to the lives of many who only survive today because of the high quality of the specific institutional care they have been receiving to date. In a rush to a "one size fits all" solution the Governor has compromised the right to life for a most vulnerable minority.

  • USA WORLD TEAM FAIRNESS
If you and your sponsors want a full boycott of this event by your target audience I urgently request that you modify your decision with regards to Ms Stacy Bromberg. She has played 100% of the WDF events for over 24 years and is also your defending champion. How is it that a player who plays all of your events offered in the United States can remain ineligible when a player from another country which has no WDF events can remain eligible to play? This is gross disservice to the game of darts and not having the players that represent the best of the game is a travesty. Please with all that is special with this game reconsider your choices. A full boycott will follow this effort of all sponsors of your event. And a notice will be sent to each one of them to inform them of the choice you had to change this outcome.
