Protect People, Not MonumentsAs North Carolinians of all races, we are appalled that the Governor and General Assembly just made North Carolina the first state to pass a law blocking local governments from removing or moving a limited number of Confederate monuments they find offensive. Whether or not I can attend Monday’s rally to “Protect People, Not Monuments,” please add my name to a petition calling on our elected leaders to focus on improving racial and economic justice, rather than defending symbols of white supremacy from legitimate reexamination.700 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Bob Hall

Texas Dept of Criminal Justice: INJUSTICEOur petition urges the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to change the way that paroles for violent criminals in the state of Texas are handled. As it currently stands, families of violent crime victims are forced to go through a parole review every 1-3 years, which causes anxiety and fear. In using short setoffs as an incentive for good behavior, the State is completely dismissing the needs or concerns of the family. Reward prisoners with short-term rewards such as movies or visitation, not setoffs that terrorize the victim's family! Not only are families victimized by the crime, but they are continually victimized year after year by a system that values the rights of a criminal over the rights of a family who's lost a loved one through violent crime. Setoffs for violent criminals, and especially those who have been charged and found guilty of murder, should be a minimum of five years. Period.66 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Katherine Kramer

Dental benefits for adults 21+ who hve MedicaidMy petition is for EVERYONE in the state of Delaware who is on Medicaid (state help) to receive dental benefits. Right now those who are 21 years old or younger are receiving these dental benefits. However, I think that those who are older than 21 and receiving Medicaid should be allowed to receive the dental benefits plan too. This is our personal hygiene and it's important. So I'm fighting for 2 cleanings per year and up to $10,000.00 per year for all other dental work to be done.15 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Kelly

Stop Governor Brown From Destroying (Hope For) Our Animals! We vigorously disapprove of Governor Brown's plan to repeal The Hayden Law that protects our animals, and we demand that the legislature reject his misguided effort as heartless and insignificant in reducing the state budget (find alternatives that will actually be effective)! We will monitor your votes and act accordingly.180 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Stephen C. Love

The George Floyd Protection ActMinneapolis police policy allows “neck restraints” but only when a suspect is “actively resisting” and experts say the pressure should be released quickly. This policy is likely the same across this country and is highly practiced and abused at a disproportionate rate against black and brown men. Applying this technique without regard for established policy is criminal and the disproportionate rate in which it is being used on black and brown men is alarming. This petition is requesting your support in the establishment of "The George Floyd Protection Act" to add a layer of protection around this targeted population, banning this practice from all police policies across this country, as well as punishing bad actors who've taken an oath to protect and serve but instead cause death by leveraging their body weight on the "heads and necks" of suspects who are in "FULL SUBMISSION." This petition is pleading for constraints and accountability for these bad actors. The George Floyd Protection Act will deem the continued use of this deadly neck constraint unconstitutional and those who continue to practice resulting in death chargeable with a Class A felony punishable with fines and imprisonment. George Floyd had constitutional rights, which should have protected him and was innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Supporting the establishment of this law will make a difference and protect the constitutional and civil rights of this targeted group of minorities in hopes of preventing another wife, mother, daughter, or son having to endure pain and suffering due to unconstitutional practices of the police. George Floyd's death should not be in vain. This act is desperately needed to hold these bad actors accountable which will be a deterrent for other officers who have a blatant disregard for black and brown men's rights to live.1,391 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Carolyn Wisdom
