The Fairness Doctrine was the policy of the United States Federal Communications Commission "in an attempt to ensure that all coverage of controversial issues by a broadcast station be balanced and fair. The FCC took the view, in 1949, that station licensees were "public trustees" and as such had an obligation to afford reasonable opportunity for discussing of contrasting points of view on controversial issues of public importance." The sweeping deregulation laws of the Reagan Administration got rid of this law and it has been to the detriment of the American people. There are Americans that are believing the lies they hear on some news stations and this must stop, immediately. We, the undersigned, demand that news media be held accountable for what they air and what they say. Lying to the American public is not acceptable on any level. Spreading hate and racism through news media is also not acceptable on any level. We demand that the Fairness Doctrine be reinstated and made into a Federal Law. Freedom of speech should never be used over public airwaves to promote hate, racism or lies. The U.S. Government has a responsibility to ensure that Americans hear both sides of a controversy, topic, argument, and to ensure that what Americans are hearing is the truth. Allowing news media outlets to lie is beyond irresponsible and it must be stopped immediately.

Help Save Hoquartin Slough/Front Street & Tillamook's History! Most are not aware that Tillamook PUD's proposed Front Street alignment for the portion of its new 115Kv electric transmission line designed to serve Oceanside will run right down Front Street. The alignment will preclude new development and redevelopment in this most historic part of the city. It will also curtail current employment growth as well as new job opportunities, devalue property and be a potential health risk. We are requesting that the City of Tillamook Reject Tillamook PUD's pending application and seek an alternative route.

We support New York City council to enact legislation that requires a 10 cent minimum charge for carry out bags in New York City grocery and retail stores, and stores would retain the entire amount of the charge.
