But just recently, William White, Chairman of the Finance Commission -- the agency charged with keeping payday lenders in line -- told the El Paso Times that payday loan customers are at fault for falling victim to predatory lending practices -- not the lenders themselves. Mr. White also happens to be the vice president of Cash America, a large payday lender that has a history of preying on Texas consumers. Can we really rely on him to watch out for our financial well-being at the same time? We can’t stand by as this clear conflict of interest continues. Sign our petition demanding Governor Perry ask William White to resign his Chairmanship of the Texas Finance Commission.

This petition only aims to unite all of us who "know better" into a single voice to finally stand resolute to call the epochal questions that have never been asked. "god bless America"? Having nurses and counselors present all day – every day – is essential to making sure children have what they need. Not another day should go by without full time nurses and counselors in every school. Please release the $45 million in federal funds that you are currently withholding from Philly schools and could be used to rehire nurses and counselors.

We demand massive fiscal stimulus of $1 trillion to $1.5 trillion per year in public works, science and technological investment, and assistance to alleviate suffering of the unemployed. Austerity is a false approach that only further generates a self-defeating downward economic spiral instead of restoring normal demand levels to the economy. The Finance industry is currently being stimulated to the tune of $1 trillion per year in fiat currency (dollars created for this purpose) under the Federal Reserve's "Quantitative Easing." The unemployed citizens of the United States deserve no less, especially considering that the unemployed are the casualties of Finance Industry greed and dishonesty.

Cutting the AccessUVa financial aid program is a serious mistake that walks away from the University of Virginia's outstanding commitment to ensuring access for students who come from poor families and cannot afford to graduate with added debt. Many would not attend UVA, or college at all, without the program. We, the undersigned, request that UVA's no-loan policy for talented, very low-income students be reinstated in its entirety immediately.
