  • Take Back Our Classrooms!
We, the undersigned—all of whom are deeply invested in the future of our students and of education in this state—object to the manner in which the changes in Oregon’s education system are being instituted by the legislature and the newly created Oregon Education Investment Board (OEIB). In particular: • We object to the current make-up of the OEIB, on which faculty--everyday faculty, in contrast to people who occasionally teach a class or taught before becoming administrators)--are severely under-represented when compared with administrators and business interests. • We object to the top-down approach with which these changes are being dictated. • We object to the rapid pace with which the changes are being made—a pace that undermines the ability for faculty at all levels of the educational system to become genuinely involved in this process. In light of these objections: • We call upon the Governor to immediately reconfigure the membership of the OEIB so that no less than 75% of the members are full-time faculty members; that these faculty members represent K-12 and post-secondary institutions; and that these faculty members come from a broad range of academic disciplines. • We also call upon the Governor to suspend all actions of the OEIB for six months in order to allow for more faculty input from across the state. • Justice for Lamar Taylor
Justice for Lamar!  Lamar Taylor was a business owner, family man and most importantly, a man of God. Converting his life to God, Lamar made strides to change his life from his troubled past, helping others and servicing his community. Lamar hasn’t had any issues with the law for 15 years! Creating job opportunities for the desiring and even felons in need of guidance and employment opportunities, amidst of serving delicious soul food. Residing in Colorado Springs, customers from all over Colorado supported “The Union”s Catering business. However, in defending the life of his loved ones, employees and himself he was sentenced to double life with an additional 16 years with no chance of probation.  Lamar had 12 witnesses who could testify in his favor and not 1 was called to the stand in his defense. Lamar isn’t asking for further representation and/or donations of any sort. All he is asking for is a fair trial. Allow his witnesses to speak on his behalf and on the misbehavior(s) of the supposed victims. Allow the evidence to be fully disclosed. The acts of harassment, breach of contract and extortion are notable “misbehaviors” that will uncover if witnesses testify.  We believe a formal petition will give Lamar a fighting chance during his appeal process. God has a plan for Lamar. Double life defending his loved ones is not God’s plan. We will be heard. Justice for Lamar!

  • Declare a Measles Emergency
The United States is experiencing its largest measles outbreak since measles was officially declared eliminated in 2000.1 New cases continue to be identified across multiple states as the outbreak stretches.  But despite the scale and duration of this outbreak, the response from the Department of Health and Human Services has been inadequate, leaving the most vulnerable to bear the consequences of inaction. Instead of declaring a public emergency, during last year’s measles outbreak in Texas, Kennedy Jr. has suggested treatments that medical experts have debunked and called not accurate, and he’s even gone as far as to say that poor diet impacts measles outbreak. Let’s be clear: Kennedy Jr. and his allies in HHS are responsible for the rise of measles cases and decrease in vaccinations across the country. Kennedy Jr. has done nothing but spread misinformation and distrust in public health and vaccinations. He decreased the amount of recommended vaccines for children from 17 to 12. And the CDC principal deputy director went on the record recently to say: "We have these communities that choose to be unvaccinated…that’s their personal freedom." If the United States loses its measles elimination status, he added, that’s the "cost of doing business." But the longer this outbreak continues, the more lives are at risk, especially those of infants, immunocompromised people, and those without access to basic care. Will you add your name?
