The value of debt that each American student gets involved with is a bleak start to the future. We chose to go to Universities to study with the hopes that we come out and find the perfect job. And in doing so we come out with hundreds of thousands of debt.

Government is not the problem...we need government. What is wrong is poorly managed government...that is your job. So instead of doing your job effectively it is easier to take money from the people who need to be monitored for fraud, corruption and poor performance. If govt doesn't work it is because the people responible for it aren't doing a proper job of watching out for the good of the people who put them in office.

A Single Status tax payer is the highest taxed group regardless of income level they are not able to reduce the amounts their state and federal government tax them. I can't even get the tiny household credit. There is no earned income credit for being independent.. The single status has no voice.

We're resident, employees, ATU Local, TWU Local, students urging both NYC Department of Education and Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg to save JOB Protection for union drivers on school buses who are more professional, experience. For example, if there was no job protection, it could be like Veolia Transportation on Nassau Inter County Express Bus, after taking over from MTA, Veolia has been hiring inexperience drivers like nasty drivers, drivers who get in lost because unfamilar environment in Nassau, Suffolk and Queens. We do not want this to happen to school bus. From YouTube video, I have seen lots of video, where unexperience drivers leave child behind, not using amber light by state law, and getting lost somewhere in New Jersey.

We need to get rid of parasitic health insurance companies and move towards a single payer system that actually delivers health care and not profits for HMO investors.

NH needs casino revenues like the 40 plus other states. We need jobs now. No one should be forced to gamble any more than they should be forced to consume alcoholic beverages. Our Governor has such a revenue stream on the horizon. Please vote favorably ASAP.

Whereas, the increased competition for athletic programs and various student groups, beneficial to the University as a whole, has made Stony Brook University well recognized amongst schools in the country and the world; Whereas, other universities of comparable size to Stony Brook University are able to provide their students with an on-campus pool for academics (i.e. adaptive aquatics), athletics, student recreation/life and the outside community; Whereas, access to an on campus pool augments student life by allowing student groups to partake in competitive activities, creating relationships and building camaraderie; Whereas, Stony Brook University’s ability to attract prospective students and retain current students through its various groups would be greatly aided by access to adequate facilities for these groups; Whereas, the participation in student-run groups and athletics improves the Stony Brook experience and encourages students to feel connected to the campus community; Whereas, well-connected students complete their undergraduate education where they are happy; Whereas, Stony Brook University is an internationally-renowned institution for higher learning, it attracts high-caliber students from places well outside New York and these students pay large amounts of money to be here, if they are unhappy they may select a cheaper alternative or transfer from Stony Brook University due to an inadequate facility; and Whereas, the undergraduate student body is overwhelmingly supportive of an increase in student-accessible facilities, strongly favoring the on-campus pool renovation, Be it resolved, by the Senate of the Undergraduate Student Government that Stony Brook University and SUNY State Assembly find an acceptable solution and provide adequate funds within a reasonable time frame for the on-campus pool renovation that provides space for student and community recreation, athletics and academics.
