  • Working for a better Baltimore
Councilman Conaway, According to resolution No. 20-24 amending the City Charter to provide for the removal from office of certain City elected officials. The bill provides that by a three-fourths vote the City Council may remove a council member, the Council President, the Mayor or the Comptroller for incompetency, misconduct in office, willful neglect of duty or felony or misdemeanor in office on charges brought by the Mayor, the City Council Committee on Legislative Investigations or by the Inspector General. Notice and an opportunity to be heard before the City Council are required. As such, Councilman Conaway, we are asking you to hold a public meeting to hear the evidence and do your sworn duty and investigate the concerns of the citizens of Baltimore City regarding the misdeeds of several elected officials. Among the issues to be examined: Whether Mayor Scott- has failed to do his duty to protect the physical and financial well-being of the citizens of Baltimore. Whether Council President Nick Mosby- has a conflict of interest in serving the needs of Baltimore residents, whether he has failed to address specific public concerns, and questionable policy legislation of personal benefit in direct contradiction of the public good. Whether Councilwoman Sharon Middleton- has a conflict of interest in serving the needs of Baltimore residents, failed to address specific public concerns, and questionable policy legislation of personal benefit in direct contradiction of the public good. Whether Councilman Stokes-has failed to execute his duties as a chairman over education Whether Councilman Dorsey- has committed ethics violations in the form of behavior in support of criminal activities It is becoming clear that city leaders are not addressing the needs of Baltimore City. While crime is out of control in this city, it is equally criminal that elected officials are not making the city any safer. As such, citizens now have to take it upon ourselves to help end violence in the city. As such we plan to: 1. Organize community patrols in conjunction with community organizations and business owners. 2. Be visible and vocal at all public meetings and meetings that should be public. We will continue until: 1. We see a public safety plan enacted with measurable outcomes achieved. 2. Our elected leaders are upholding their sworn duties to serve the public community which has led to a quantifiable increase in the quality of life throughout the City of Baltimore.

  • Urgent Action Required to Prevent Flooding on Lynwood Drive
In 2021, I bought and moved into my first home on Lynwood Drive in Washington, Indiana. I did not know of any drainage issues or any flooding issues in the area as I am not from Washington or southern Indiana. In 2022 we experienced our first flood in the home. Water trickled down into our vents and soaked the entire floor in a matter of minutes. My husband and our friend dragged the sandbags I had seen in the garage through the house and out the windows into the front of the house. For three days after, water seeped through the laminate flooring, gushing under every step. I ran dehumidifiers, fans, and the AC for days. I hoped the water was out and soon enough, it went away. I made my fair share of complaints to neighbors and they informed me that the city was looking into the issue. A few months later, I saw city workers on our road and I thought, “Yay! They’re doing something!” Turns out nothing was done to eliminate the problem because yesterday 5/5/24 my house flooded again. I now have a 4 month old baby. His room was flooded. New toys, clothes, diapers all ruined. Not only that, my living room, garage, and kitchen were all flooded just as bad if not worse. If you are familiar with the area, you know that Lynwood Dr sits at the bottom of a very long hill. Well our house sits smack dab at the bottom of the hill right before the road gradually inclines. Water from every direction pools in front of my house. During flash floods, the street is filled to the brim, spilling over into my yard. I am writing this petition to the City of Washington in an effort to have flood prevention measures taken. I am not an expert in this area but I know that there needs to be a storm basin put in place. I know that there needs to be storm drains added to our street. I am a taxpayer. My neighbors are taxpayers. We are in need of help. I am not the only one who experiences this issue. I am one of many. Please sign this petition to have the City of Washington help myself and my neighborhood.

  • Petition to Halt the Proposed MAHANOY TWP. WAREHOUSE PROJECT On The Morea Road.
We, the undersigned residents of Mahanoy Township and surrounding communities, respectfully petition township officials, the Schuylkill County Planning Commission, and all relevant authorities to delay, halt, or require further review of the planned 1.5-million-square-foot warehouse along Morea Road. Our Concerns  1. Environmental Impact The project will require extensive land clearing, destruction of local habitat, and long-term loss of green space. During and after construction, truck fleets, machinery, and facility operations will increase both noise and air pollution, reducing overall environmental quality for the region.  2. Harm to Nearby Homes and Families The warehouse will be built within approximately 300 yards of existing houses, placing residents extremely close to ongoing construction, bright industrial lighting, truck traffic, and 24/7 operations. This proximity threatens our peace, safety, property values, and quality of life.  3. Traffic and Safety Concerns Heavy tractor-trailer movement and increased vehicle flow on Morea Road and surrounding streets will strain already-burdened roadways and raise the risk of traffic accidents.  4. Lack of Transparency and Public Notification Although the project was originally approved the residents living next to the future site were never properly informed. No public outreach, mailed notices, or acknowledgment was offered to the homeowners most affected. Residents were not given the opportunity to voice concerns before decisions were made. Our Requests We call for one or more of the following actions:  • A halt to the project until a full environmental and community impact study is completed  • A public hearing with direct notification to nearby residents before further construction occurs  • A reevaluation of the site design, distance from homes, and traffic flow plans  • Consideration of alternative locations or mitigation requirements to protect residents Our Community, Our Voices We believe sustainable growth must be balanced with community health, environmental responsibility, and transparency. Decisions that dramatically affect residents should never be made without their knowledge and involvement. By signing this petition, we respectfully request that the Morea Road warehouse project not move forward without proper environmental review, open communication, and protections for the community.

  • A Case for Water Fluoridation as Toxic Ingestion
Dr. Yiamouyiannis received his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Rhode Island and served his post-doctoral fellowship at the Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He then became editor at Chemical Abstracts Service, the world's largest chemical information center, where he first became aware of the health damaging effects of fluoride. He states 'Dean Burk was former chief chemist of the National Cancer Institute, and has co-authored studies with many Nobel prize winners including Otto Warburton, and he is the co-author of the most cited paper in the entire field of biochemistry - the Lineweaver-Burk Enzyme Kinetics. In the 1970s, Dean Burk and I conducted a number of studies that linked fluoride, and cancer. There was already scientific evidence from the 1950s that fluoride was causing cancer, and a 1963 study by Driscowitz and Norton showed that increased fluoride concentrations in the media in experimental animals - thereby increasing tumour incidence from 12% at the lowest concentrations up to 100%. Taylor and Taylor published a study in 1965 at the University of Texas in all the mainline medical journals showing that 1 ppm or even 0.5 ppm increased tumour growth rate by 25%. Through these studies enough data was found to compare the cancer death rate before and after fluoridation of fluoridated communities and compare them to non-fluoridated communities. Based on millions of subjects, the study showed a 5 to 10% increase in cancer death rate within three to five years after fluoridation was put into the water after correcting for various demographic factors like age, race and sex. All the variables were controlled. This was then followed by a series of other studies. In 1977, via full blown Congressional Hearings Congress stated: "We can no longer assure the American public that fluoride does not cause cancer". Dean Burk and other well-known scientists were there, and on the opposing side was the American Dental Association. Ten years later, Proctor and Gamble, makers of Crest toothpaste found that fluoride was causing precarcinogenic changes in cells. Further, even if fluoride is able to mitigate dental caries, this is under the premise of topical application – not ingestion. In fact, fluoridated toothpaste is labeled with warnings to seek medical help or contact a poison control center immediately if the toothpaste is swallowed. Fluoride is an industrial waste product, a by-product of the aluminum industry and the phosphate fertilizer companies who have mountains of fluoride that is polluting the ground water. They have to get rid of it, and the old solution to pollution is dilution - just put it in the drinking water. Yet ironically enough, and due to the high degree of industrialization there, research indicates that much of the product used for water fluoridation now comes from China, According to a book review by Jay Seavy of Yiamouyiannis’ book: Fluoride the Aging Factor: How to Recognize and Avoid the Devastating Effects of Fluoride, it is a straightforward account of fluoride and the politics of fluoridation by one who was in the midst of the scientific and political battles for over a quarter of a century. Yiamouyiannis, a Ph.D. in biochemistry, documents with about 50 pages of references a very readable explanation of how fluoride upsets the body's collagen metabolism, causing damage to bones, teeth, connective tissue, arteries and skin; how it damages DNA and upsets the body's ability to repair its DNA, with tumors and cancer as a result; and how it damages enzymes and proteins, upsets the immune system, and causes autoimmune diseases. He thoroughly refutes the idea that fluoride is beneficial in preventing tooth decay, and that it has a useful function in human nutrition. It is, in fact, a toxic pollutant generated by many industries, such as the manufacturing of aluminum, phosphate fertilizer, steel, nuclear materials and fuels, ceramics, brick, glass, concrete, to name a few. Yiamouyiannis lays out the long, ugly, and outrageous history, and is a lot more even-tempered in his presentation than you may be after reading his book. A must-read for anyone contemplating the issue of water fluoridation, and wanting to do so from a factual basis. Further toward the "social corruption" aspect of water fluoridation, one may wish to read, by Jay Seavey: "Water Fluoridation and Crime in America" www.fluorideresearch.org/381/files/38111-22.pdf which reference is offered in memory of John Yiamouiannis” Sources: http://www.oregonlive.com/opinion/index.ssf/2009/04/oregon_the_goto_place_for_toot.html http://www.amazon.com/Fluoride-Aging-Factor-Recognize-Devastating/product-reviews/0913571016/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1 The Fluoride Deception by Christoper Bryson http://www.amazon.com/The-Fluoride-Deception-Christopher-Bryson/dp/1583227008/ref=pd_sim_b_3
