  • Congress: Stop attacking our national parks & monuments!
Vote no on H.R. 1459, which undermines the president's ability to create national monuments! Nearly half of our national parks were monuments first, including the Grand Canyon. Protected public lands are good for local economies, our quality of life, and future generations.

  • Governor Abbott: Do not execute Rodney Reed
Rodney Reed is literally fighting for his life again from Texas death row. The state is planning on executing him on November 20th. We cannot let this happen— both because the death penalty is immoral, but also because the state would be executing a potentially innocent man. More info at: http://www.nodeathpenalty.org and http://justice4rodneyreed.org/

  • Restorative Justice: An Effective, Compassionate, Inclusive Alternative to Our Criminal Justice S...
Restorative Justice asks three questions: who has been harmed, how have they been harmed, and what needs to be done to fix the harm. Through an inclusive, participatory process, an agreement is reached to address the harm. The goals and outcomes are represented by the 5 R's of Respect, Responsibility, Relationships, Repair, and Reintegration. The results are supported by victims, offenders, and communities.

  • Ohio: Tell President Obama to ban bee-killing pesticides
Dear President Obama, Thank you for calling national attention to the plight of bees and other pollinators. These important creatures are an integral part of healthy ecosystems – but they continue to die off in dramatic numbers. Your recently-announced pollinator initiative is a step in the right direction, but we need to make sure this effort results in real protections for bees. We need to ban bee-killing pesticides now! A mounting body of scientific evidence points to one class of systemic insecticides — neonicotinoids (neonics) — as a key factor in bee declines. Neonics can kill bees outright, and at sublethal doses, they impair bees’ brain function and suppress their immune systems — making them more susceptible to diseases, pests and other stressors. This problem is urgent. Beekeepers report continuing unsustainable losses and many have gone out of business. The EPA’s plan to complete its review of neonics by 2019 is not an acceptable timetable for beekeepers and our food security. I urge you to listen to the growing body of science that tells us we need to ban neonics. They are a key part of the problem and need to be tackled head on. Thank you,

  • PRC & A.G. King: Don't Ax the Public Utilities' Target Requirements For Renewable Energy
Alternative energy and specifically solar energy is key to moving the state forward, we have up to 340 days of sunshine every year, it’s our most plentiful natural resource. Solar rays are strongest during hot summer months when demand for electricity is at its peak. New Mexico can position itself as a prime exporter of solar energy in the years ahead. Solar Power has proven that it is a cost-competitive energy solution for our state, as well as a generator for economic development. If the alternative energy diversity requirements are scaled back, repealed, and/or if a cap is placed on what utilities are required to pay for renewable energy development, companies won’t have incentive to develop energy diversity or more solar power sources.
